Welcome to the mother of all tabloid hogging quotes - this one takes the cake, the cook, and the whole bakery.Waif Queen Kareena Kapoor let slip that she can't stand the sight, sound and the fragrance of Bollywood Queen Aishwarya Rai. Rowwrr! Who wants to see a cat fight?
So why is there no love lost between Kareena and Aishwarya? Now the first thought that flashes in the brain cortex is that Kareena didn't find it funny when Abhishek Bachchan broke her sister Karishma Kapoor's heart to begin with. And then along came Aishwarya Rai and became more famous than her. And then she went on to marry Abhishek! That (unmentionable)! And what do you know, Amitabh Bachchan and wifey Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan rubbed the large grains of salt in by mentioning that Karishma was NOT HOMELY ENOUGH for their likes. Ouch!
It doesn't help Kareena's temper that Aishwarya Rai is still the most beautiful woman in the world, and despite being older than Kareena, she is more popular, more bankable and arguably a better actress. And hold on to your eyeballs for this - Kareena Kapoor didn't turn down a role with Johnny Depp because of date problems, but because of Aishwarya Rai!What? How?? To answer that, here's an explanatory quote from from a source, "Three years ago, Gurinder Chadda who offered her this role, wanted Kareena for Bride & Prejudice.
"Kareena naturally presumed it was the lead. She was shocked to know the director actually wanted her to play Aishwarya's youngest sister's part for which the lesser know Piya Rai Choudhary was signed later. Bebo was irked at being offered the fourth lead and vowed never to work with her again. Now when a new Gurinder Chadha film was offered to Kareena she quickly said no without hesitation."
There you go. I wouldn't say this was the brightest decision by Kareena. Remember when she said that she would do a Hollywood film only if it is BIG. Well if she thinks a film starring Johnny Depp is a small fry, she's got another think coming. Oh and just so you know, Aishwarya Rai's Hollywood movie 'The Pink Panther 2' hits theaters next year, with Steve Martin in the lead role.
